The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is an agency of the United States Department of Transportation with authority to regulate and oversee all aspects of civil aviation in the U.S. (National Airworthiness Authority). The Federal Aviation Act of 1958 created the group under the name "Federal Aviation Agency", and adopted its current name in 1967 when it became a part of the United States Department of Transportation. Encouraging and developing civil aeronautics, including new aviation technology. Issuing, suspending, or revoking pilot certificates. Developing and operating a system of air traffic control and navigation for both civil and military aircraft. Researching and developing the National Airspace System and civil aeronautics. Developing and carrying out programs to control aircraft noise and other environmental effects of civil aviation.

All illustrations are in black and white, not color! Get the ASA publication by the same name for color!

This is the black and white version of this publication. ASA publishes what looks like the exact same book but the illustrations are in color, which really does make quite a lot of difference. I already made some notations in my FAA copy, but will probably get the ASA version. Wondering if there is an update in the works though.

Ideal having a hard copy laying around

In addition to my owning digital copies (iOS and Android), I thought it was best to keep a hard copy laying around. My only complaint is the font size is too small (hence the 1 Star ding)! Would rather having more pages in the text versus having to strain my eyes.
