high cost low value

I was tempted to write a review before I had completed the book, but I stuck it out and finished the book first.

I cannot recommend this book and it's price is by no means justified.

I am not going to go through all the book's faults, and there are many, but this book appears to have been written by an instructor rather than someone who actually programs in Ruby and it shows. There is a great deal of wasted space and repetition. You will not learn object-oriented programming, as the program developed in each chapter is basically a repetition of the one in the previous chapter with each program consisting of only two classes and essentially the same methods and program structure for every one.

Don't waste your money.

There are a few typos in the code, but if you've been paying attention to the material, nothing that can't be easily found and corrected. Overall, a good intro to the language. Presented in a fun manner with games rather than a boring spreadsheet or accounting program format.
